Choosing the Right Geyser for You

Capacity Matters

  • Light Use (5–10L) – Ideal for small sinks, camping, or a single tap. ( Battery Operated Gas Geyser )
  • Heavy Use (20–32L) – For showers, kitchens, or multiple outlets. ( Smart Fan Forced Gas Geyser )

Seasonal Adjustments

  • Colder water in winter may require you to reduce flow or increase geyser size.
  • A 20–30% water flow rate reduction may be needed to maintain temperature in colder months due to the lower inlet water temperature from the ground.

Understanding the Two Main Types of Gas Geysers

When choosing a gas geyser, it's important to understand the differences between smart (fan-forced) units and battery-operated models. Here's a quick breakdown to help you choose the right fit:

1. Smart Gas Geysers (Fan-Forced β€œHands-Off” Units)

  • Fully automated and user-friendly β€” no manual adjustments required.
  • Maintain a stable temperature, even with changes in water flow or pressure.
  • Many models offer a wall-mounted digital controller inside your home for easy temperature adjustments.
  • Ideal for households with multiple users or outlets running at once.
  • We can install them in high unreachable locations as they are completely hands off units.

2. Battery-Operated Gas Geysers (Diaphragm Type)

  • Require manual adjustments every few months to maintain desired temperature.
  • More sensitive to changes in water flow and pressure β€” may require fine-tuning.
  • A good fit for smaller households or single-point usage (like a shower or kitchen sink).
  • Can take some tweaking to dial in the right temperature, especially during seasonal changes.
  • Needs to be installed in arms reach for adjustments throughout the year.
Fan Forced Gas Geysers

Smart Fan-Forced Gas Geyser

Faster Hot Water Delivery
These units can be mounted higher off the ground to shorten pipe runs, reducing wait times and water waste β€” often matching or beating your previous system.

Consistent Temperature
Fan-forced models maintain a stable temperature, even when multiple outlets are used simultaneously β€” ideal for larger homes.

Works with Low Flow Rates
Smart units like Paloma and Rinnai can operate at ultra-low flow rates (Β±1.6L/min) β€” perfect for water-saving taps and variable pressure setups.

Optional Smart Temperature Control
Install a digital controller inside your home. Set your ideal temperature (e.g. 38Β°C), view error codes, and adjust settings without touching the unit. Only opening the hot tap at your desired temp saves gas by avoiding unnecessary overheating and cooling it down to a desired temperature.

Geyser Sizing Guide

  • 20L Fan-Forced Geyser
    1–2 bathrooms + 1 kitchen (mid-size homes)
  • 26L Fan-Forced Geyser
    2–3 bathrooms + 1 kitchen (larger households)
  • 28L Fan-Forced Geyser
4 bathrooms + 1 kitchen or light commercial use
Battery Operated Units

Smart Sizing Tip for Diaphragm/ Battery Operated Geysers.

Important: The following does not apply to smart gas geyser units such as Paloma and Rinnai. These advanced models include built-in PC boards that precisely control both gas and water flow. They can operate at ultra-low flow rates as little as Β±1.6L/min and maintain a stable temperature.

For non-smart diaphragm-type geysers, you’ll need to match the unit to your actual flow rate to avoid overheating and automatic shutdowns.

  • Measure your tap/shower flow rate with a bucket for one minute.
  • If you’re only getting 10L/min, we recommend you don’t install a 20L diaphragm geyser β€” it’ll overheat and shut off. We would advise we install a Dewhot 12L CT or something similar.

If your water flow is inconsistent, Constant Temperature (CT) battery-operated gas geysers can help maintain a steady temperature by adjusting for minor pressure fluctuations. However, these systems do have their limitations β€” especially in homes where multiple taps or outlets may open during a shower. In such cases, it’s best to opt for a fan-forced smart gas geyser (like Paloma or Rinnai), which offers more precise control and consistent performance under varying demand.
